After announcing a decrease in a profit of more than 14 percent due to the low demand, the Airbnb share price decreased by 16 percent in mid -August. During the subsequent call of the investor, CEO Brian Chesky took a proactive position.
To overcome the current decline, Airbnb plans to enter “experiments” such as trips, tours and activities in the local area. These experiments, if successful, can enhance Airbnb revenues significantly. Although this idea has tried before and stopped, it is now reviving.
Airbnb also plans to provide “home experiences” by applying them to attract guests and possibly attract them away from hotels. These experiments may include services such as a chef, cleaning regulation, reservation for a rented apartment, and provide transportation assistance.
Next year, Airbnb will also provide the “common hosting” feature. This feature aims to link home owners and apartment owners who need more time to manage their own property lists with individuals available to help but have no properties to be presented on the platform. The feature will include a comprehensive examination process to ensure the quality of the hosted hosts and the integrity of the properties.
In addition, Airbnb intends to expand a selection of boutique hotel rooms through its Metasearch tool, “Hotel Tonight”. This step is likely to be in response to the increasing protests against Airbnb in popular tourist destinations, mainly due to concerns about lack of housing. In areas where regulatory measures are taken against home participation services, the hotel’s expanded hotel options may lead to more reservations.
To address output concerns, Airbnb offers a new search candidate that helps users find accommodations in rural areas, including quiet villages and less well -known towns.
It is still determined if all Brian Chisky ads will be fulfilled. He also mentioned a newly developed application based on artificial intelligence, which was supposed to be launched in May 2024. However, he admitted that it would take Airbnb to convert years into a fully controlled application.
Despite the challenges, Chesky is still fixed in his commitment to the long -term Airbnb vision. It imagines Airbnb as a digital travel, more than just chatbot, able to understand users well enough to make custom travel suggestions.
