The SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) has approved near-term science-based emissions reduction targets for ITP Aero. The verified targets will see ITP Aero work towards its commitment to reduce carbon emissions across its own operations, value chain and products sold, in line with the Paris Agreement target of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
ITP Aero has committed to the following goals:
- ITP Aero is committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 compared to the 2019 base year.
- ITP Aero is committed to reducing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the use of products sold Products 55% per available seat kilometer by 2030 from the 2019 base year*.
Pablo Quintana, Executive Director of Strategy and Sustainability at ITP Aero, said: “It is a great pleasure to have Short-term targets validated through the Science Based Targets Initiative to 2030. This achievement demonstrates our strong sustainability management systems and processes that help us deliver innovative solutions to build a greener, more sustainable future for aviation. We are also taking firm steps towards our commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, and this achievement proves that we are on the right track.
By achieving SBTi certification, ITP Aero has been recognized for its commitment to climate change by the official global organisation. It also demonstrates ITP Aero’s determination and sense of responsibility to help keep global temperature rise within 1.5°C. Science-based carbon targets provide clear guidelines for achieving emissions reductions across the entire value chain by 2050. ITP Aero looks forward to working with more partners to advance the global energy transition to build a better, greener future.
SBTi is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the UN Global Compact, the We Mean Business Alliance, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It helps organizations set science-based carbon targets and provides reliable benchmarks for companies that are world leaders in reducing carbon emissions. As more organizations around the world set carbon neutrality goals, participating in and setting science-based carbon targets demonstrates a company’s sense of responsibility and active practice in achieving green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
