
New international certification for Vienna Airport: For safety reasons, the handling of air cargo shipments using lithium batteries is subject to particularly high requirements.
Vienna International Airport has now received CEIV certification for lithium batteries from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its operations, infrastructure and trained staff. This step confirms Vienna Airport’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-quality handling services for these product groups in a reliable, fast and safe manner.

Therefore, handling shipments of lithium batteries, which are dangerous goods that require special care in air freight movement, is linked to high standards of safety and quality. As part of the audit, Vienna Airport demonstrated that it meets all the requirements necessary to carry out these difficult tasks safely and in compliance with regulations.
