The long-awaited EU Cross-Border E-Commerce (CBEC) Forum has officially opened in Liège, Belgium. Organized by the Wallonia Export and Investment Agency (AWEX), in partnership with Liège Airport and OBOR Group, this year’s event is poised to explore the dynamic role of cross-border e-commerce in shaping global markets.
In his opening remarks, Michel Kempeneers, AWEX representative, expressed his delight at the success of the event, which has grown significantly since its launch in 2019.

“It is a great honor to welcome more than 750 participants from all over the world,” Kempineers said.
“Cross-border e-commerce is a powerful growth engine, and this event is designed to help you understand the key elements of success, from digital marketing to navigating regulatory environments.”

The conference provides European companies, especially SMEs, with a platform to gain insight into the rapidly evolving e-commerce landscape. Over the next two days, participants will hear from experts and industry leaders on key topics such as digital marketing strategies, online payment solutions, after-sales services, and compliance with international regulations.
Adding to this momentum, Torsten Wevers, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Liège Airport, highlighted the important role the airport plays in the global logistics sector.
“With more than 700 registered participants representing 360 companies, including more than 40 airlines and 150 logistics companies, this forum clearly demonstrates that Liège Airport is more than just a cargo hub – it is a thriving international market,” Wevers noted.
Wevers also emphasized the collaborative atmosphere of the event, which aims to foster dialogue on the future of e-commerce and cross-border logistics. He encouraged attendees to explore potential partnerships and take advantage of the unique opportunities provided by the forum.
“This is an opportunity to exchange ideas, explore new ideas and strengthen connections within our beloved industry. “Our business is about breaking down barriers and creating a more connected world for businesses and consumers alike,” he added.
