DANX has moved its Stockholm distribution center to a new, larger facility to reduce cargo handling times, increase the volume of goods it handles, and meet the requirements of its sustainability policy.
The new distribution centre, equipped with chargers for electric delivery vehicles, including heavy trucks, and connected to a district heating network providing clean heat, will help reduce the companies’ carbon footprint and match their environmental, social and governance (ESG) ambitions.
“After a period of strong growth in the market, DANX is now investing in our network infrastructure across Sweden to future-proof our business and reduce delivery times further,” said Martin Growers, Managing Director Sweden.
“Our new Kungens Kurva center will ensure that DANX will not only be able to handle a greater number of critical deliveries more quickly, but that we do so more sustainably.
“With our new fleet of Duo trailers and continued investment in biofuels and electric vehicles across the business, DANX is ready to match our environmental ambitions with the action needed to achieve them.”
The site is 60 percent larger than the current facility, and includes eight loading gates for heavy goods vehicles and ten for small delivery trucks – double the number at the current facility.
Kungens Kurva is strategically located close to the E4 and E20 highways, as well as the Vorbivart Stockholm bypass, and will serve as a field storage location with on-site pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) facilities, allowing for faster handling of spare parts and customer stock items in larger quantities.
Work is currently underway to move operations from the old terminal in Stockholm and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Full-service logistics company TLS, which was acquired by DANX earlier this year, is moving its Stockholm operations to the new centre.
