ABM Aviation, part of facilities solutions provider ABM UK & Ireland, has promoted Ian Mitchell to Vice President of Operations Aviation & Transport, following a significant year for the business.
With decades of experience in the wider transport sector as well as aviation, Ian achieves clear operational excellence through his work at National Express and major aviation contract management at Heathrow.
Under the direction of Managing Director Jim Niblock, Ian will lead a dynamic senior leadership team of COOs. Michelle Baxter, North Director; Kate Glassop, director of London Heathrow Airport; and Mick Torpey, Director, South, are supported by specialists providing advice across contracts; Samantha Saunders is Head of Auxiliary Services; Jasprit Rehal is Head of Security and Wayne Saunders is Head of Logistics

Under the leadership of Richard Sykes, who joined nearly two years ago, ABM’s UK & Ireland business has made great strides towards becoming a leading facilities solutions provider in the region and beyond. The Aviation and Transport division is set to play a pivotal role in realizing this vision as the team accelerates towards 2025.
Ian’s appointment comes after a year of great success for ABM’s aviation division. The company has secured a major contract at Heathrow Airport with a major airline which will be announced soon; It has added Bristol Airport to its UK airport portfolio, which now includes 14 airports; It maintained 100% of its customer relationships throughout the fiscal year.
As part of its 2025 growth strategy, ABM is expanding its aviation division to serve the wider transport sector, leveraging the company’s extensive London transport experience and support from its Fortune 500 parent company, ABM Industries.
