
UAE Skycargo, the shipping arm of the world’s largest international airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MO) with Astral Aviation, one of the leading airlines in Africa, to explore ways to enhance global trade to and from the continent.
Astral Aviation runs an extensive inside African network of 50 destinations that are presented through scheduled charters and ADHOC. The agreement was signed in Air Cargo Africa by Badr Abbas, Vice President of the UAE Department Skycargo and Mr. Sanjee GaHia, CEO of Astral Aviation Limited. Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, the UAE will work closely on a number of initiatives, which include expanding shipping options between lines and space agreements, to enhance connection and increase access to African companies.

Economic and investment cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Africa continues to grow, as the United Arab Emirates was the first rank in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the fourth largest global investor in Africa. Recently, the United Arab Emirates and Kenya have signed a comprehensive comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) to accelerate trade and investment in agriculture, infrastructure, health care, travel, tourism, financial services and renewable energy. The UAE Skycargo started its operations for the first time in Africa in April 1986, with the opening trip to Cairo, Egypt. Over the next four decades, the airline has steadily reduced operations and increased frequencies, which now provides clients for seven closed shipping companies and a abdominal capacity on 172 passengers per week to 20 destinations in Africa.
