Envirotainer, which specializes in temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments, has partnered with Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP) to support the development and certification of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
SAF, a cleaner alternative to conventional jet fuel, plays a crucial role in reducing the carbon footprint of air transport. By investing in the SAF through AFKLMP Cargo’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program, Envirotainer aims to help pharmaceutical companies achieve their sustainability goals while maintaining the safety of temperature-sensitive cargo.
“At Envirotainer, we understand that sustainability is about more than just our direct operations,” said EP Butt, Head of Global Key Accounts for Airlines. “Our partnership with Air France KLM Martinair Cargo reflects our dedication to tackling emissions across the entire supply chain. Through investments in SAF, we are reducing our environmental impact while enabling pharmaceutical companies to do the same.”
The program aims to stimulate the development of advanced Sudanese Armed Forces and reduce the carbon footprint of aviation. SAF is produced from renewable feedstocks, such as waste and residue oils, and can reduce life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85 percent compared to conventional jet fuel.
Envirotainer’s sustainability efforts extend beyond this partnership. The company’s science-based targets are designed to guide its emissions reduction efforts across its value chain. Collaborative initiatives such as the SAF Agreement demonstrate the essential role that partnerships play in achieving long-term environmental goals.
“We believe that tackling the complexities of sustainability requires teamwork,” added EP Butt. “Working with industry leaders like Air France-KLM allows us to support sustainable solutions that benefit both the cold chain and pharmaceutical industries.”
This partnership builds on Envirotainer’s previous achievements, such as adopting 95% renewable electricity throughout its operations and maintaining industry-leading standards for cold chain logistics.
