2023 was a successful year for Moldovan fruits. Cherries, peaches, grapes and apples produced in Moldova have found their way to an increasing number of consumers in the European Union and in markets as far away as the Gulf countries and Asian regions. Producers in Moldova have modified their production and post-harvest techniques to ensure high-quality and safe products. In 2023, Moldova exported 12.5 times more cherries to the EU than in 2022. It was also a record year for plum exports, reaching 78 thousand tons. Germany imported 7.5 thousand tons of Moldovan plums, ranking third among European Union countries importing plums from Moldova.
In the table grape industry, Moldova saw a notable increase in exports in 2023. A total of 77 tons of table grapes were exported from the 2023 crop, with more than half of this reaching the EU and UK markets. The expansion into 31 countries worldwide confirms the international recognition of the quality and taste of Moldova’s table grape varieties, which represent 95% of the exported varieties.

Increasing results were also observed in apple exports to European countries, with leading shipments to Sweden and an increased presence in Romania and the United Kingdom. Destinations such as the Asian and Middle Eastern markets have already become traditional for Moldovan apple exporters, and their share has been gradually growing over the past five years.
During Fruit Logistica 2024, Moldova attracted people’s attention with its first networking event titled “Taste Without Borders”. The event, attended by fruit importers, supermarket representatives and media, highlighted the progress Moldova has made in diversifying fresh fruit exports, overcoming challenges and strengthening international cooperation.

The European Union’s decision to extend the suspension of import taxes and customs quotas on Moldovan exports until June 2024 was a game-changer. Moldovan fruits, including cherries, peaches, apricots, grapes and apples, have gained increasing visibility on the EU market. Our exporters adhere to the highest international standards and hold certificates such as GlobalG.AP and GRASP, which has helped them find a stable place in the EU market.
“Moldova’s fruits have not only become a symbol of quality, but also a testament to our dedication to sustainable and responsible agricultural practices,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Puglia, stressed while attending the event. We invite you to taste the fruits of Moldova, collaborate with our producers and be part of our success.
