After nearly 40 years at the helm of their eponymous air brokerage, Peter Hunt and Jeremy Palmer have announced the start of a process that will see management take control of the Hunt & Palmer group’s transition over the next 12 months.
The succession plan, which will develop over the coming months, will see current senior directors Julie Black, director of the group’s Premier Aviation (UK) Ltd, and Jamie Peters, director of Hunt & Palmer Cargo Charters Ltd, join the key members of the Hunt & Palmer board. Simon Edwards and Mark Jenkinson to form the new executive management team. This team will be responsible for the day-to-day operational and strategic control of Hunt & Palmer’s global charter business.
During the transition period, Messrs. Hunt and Palmer will gradually remove themselves from the day-to-day management of the business, continuing to act as lead directors of the group’s board, alongside co-directors Neil Harvey, Simon Edwards and Mark Jenkinson. Neil Harvey, who has contributed over 30 years to the company, will play an important role in helping facilitate the management succession plan.
Jeremy Palmer, chairman of Hunt & Palmer, said: “Now is the time to address the future of the business and start implementing these changes to the company we founded with our late partner, Jimmy Martin, all those years ago. We, along with the other directors, are keenly aware of our responsibilities to people.” The future of those we employ is of the utmost importance to us, and effective management and execution of succession by the executive management team is desirable and necessary to secure this future.
Commenting on the new management structure, Peter Hunt added: “We have always believed in providing opportunities for those working within our organization as a priority. We invest in our people and it is no coincidence that we chose Julie and Jamie to work with Simon and Mark to meet the challenges ahead. “Both have proven to be highly capable and visionary leaders who are highly respected in our business and throughout our industry.”
