There is a prevailing challenge in the conditions of air weapons/aviation Industry: carbon removal, diversity, fairness, and inclusion (Dei).
Carbon removal goals for 2030 and 2050 are increasingly subject to scrutiny, and some airlines were forced to re -evaluate their obligations given the delay from the original equipment manufacturing companies (OEMS) in providing new aircraft, or long -term leads of low -carbon technologies or new zero to enter a market.
The cost of sustainable aviation fuel, as well as the uneven play stadiums that are created by those countries or commercial blocks, which provide mandatory mandatory measures and those that do not additionally affect the effect of cost and may expose airlines to existential threats.
“All of these issues constitute great obstacles to meeting the aspirations of the industry to remove carbon,” Richard Forson, President and CEO of Cargoing Airlines.
“This should not be used as an excuse to stop following these goals; on the contrary, the industry should stimulate more difficult to play in the global level of carbon removal, link airlines to the obligations of their countries of origin under the Paris Agreement and pressure more assistance from The European Union in support of the availability and cost of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to ensure the alignment between the supply aircraft and the aspirations of the Chinese network of the European Union.
In the airline industry, women were historically represented in higher leadership positions, and on the surface of the aviation-in 2022, only 5 percent of women pilots, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). To improve DEI throughout the industry, IATA launched an initiative 25 by 2025 in 2019. The goal is to increase the number of women in high positions and the representative areas, an incomplete representation by 25 percent, or up to at least 25 percent, by 2025 .
“More than 200 aviation organizations, including ground support companies and reservation platforms, as well as airlines including Cargolux, have registered up to 25 by 2025, which make progress,” Forson explained. In 2022, the upper leadership roles held by women reached 28 percent, including 28 CEOs. In 2021, the percentage was 24 percent. The airlines that participated in the initiative also added 1,000 new pilots in 2022.
“However, there is a noticeable gap between companies that made the largest progress and those who are still at the beginning of their work. Many of the work that must be done in this field remains, especially support initiatives that enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics as functional paths in the fields of acting an incomplete representation in Our societies.
Specific steps
In 2022, Cargolux finished a 1077-8 request to ship with options for six additional planes. 777-8 shipping provides low emissions, noise, as well as the lowest fuel use and operating costs per ton of any large cargo ship.
Cargolux and ENSYLING Realing processes already already contains very high recycling rates of wooden platforms. The airline also provided the use of SQUAIR cardboard breaks in operations to reduce the amount of wood resources used.
In addition, Cargolax team reused and recycled 100 % of its plastic cover in Luxembourg and recently started providing biological decomposition plastic materials in our operations. In July 2024, the transport company began an experiment for a hydrogen truck fueled by Luxembourg and Frankfurt to support the development of this technology.
The sustainability was a major column for Cargolax for a large period of time. The company has a culture included in the practices of the circular economy in maintenance, engineering, high -use recycling and recycling rates in our shipping operations.
Socially, inside Cargolux, we have internal policies aimed at ensuring fairness and fair culture. We have also presented a policy of diversity and stock, which will apply to Cargolax and all its subsidiaries. “
