All Nippon Airways (ana) has obtained approval to the planned seizure of Nippon Cargo Airlines (NICA) from the Japan Fair Committee (JFTC).
JFTC initially rejected the proposed acquisition due to fears that the deal would restrict competition for services from Japan to the Chicago region and the Los Angeles region.
The Competition Authority said that in the public shipping market – with the exception of large and dangerous cargo shipments – the two will have a market share of about 30 % to the Los Angeles region and 35 % to the Chicago region. They were ranked first in terms of the ability of each of these fields.
To satisfy the organizer, the airlines agreed that they would provide a block space agreement to compete for the Air Carraine and appoint a lawyer and a specialist to monitor the agreement.
JFTC said the measures “create an effective examination so that the group of companies concerned cannot freely influence prices.”
However, the deal is still awaiting the approval of the competition authorities in China and Singapore.
Ana announced for the first time its plans to purchase the Boeing 747-8 NYK Shipping Group operator in March 2023.
