
Noida International Airport (NIA) remains on track to achieve development milestones, with validation flights of test flight procedures as well as the submission of an airport license application expected by December 2024. Commercial operations at the airport are scheduled to commence by the end of April 2025. .
NIA has made exceptional progress over the past two years since construction activity began. The airport is set to play an important role in the growth of Indian aviation upon its completion.
Construction updates
The passenger terminal is taking shape: work is underway on the facades and roof, the installation of the baggage handling system is nearing completion, and the MEP and finishing work is well underway.

Runway completed: Asphalt work on the runway has been completed. Work continues on runway markings, approach lights and ground lighting for the airport
Air Traffic Control: MEP and finishing works are currently being carried out at the Air Traffic Control Tower, while navigational aids such as the DVOR have been calibrated, and preparations are underway for the Instrument Landing System (ILS) calibration.
Partnerships and operations
Airlines on board: Memorandums of understanding were signed with IndiGo and Akasa Air, with network planning and operational requirements discussed. Strong interest from other local and international carriers
Concessions: Major air concessions have been granted, including in-flight refueling, ground handling, and cargo services. Non-air concessions were also signed for retail stores, restaurants, duty-free lounges and hotels.
A smooth journey for passengers: Factory acceptance tests for key airport systems have been completed, and equipment has begun arriving on site. Check-in kiosks, self-service bag drop, and e-gates are currently being tested.
Operational readiness: Agreements have been signed for vital operation and maintenance services, including airport lighting, passenger boarding bridges, elevators and escalators. NIA will apply for the airport license by the end of the 2024 calendar year.
NIA continues to work closely with the EPC contractor, Tata Projects Limited, and all stakeholders to maintain the high momentum of construction activity. The airport is scheduled to begin operations by the end of April 2025, marking the beginning of a new era of connectivity and economic growth in the region.
Noida International Airport will combine Indian warmth and hospitality with Swiss technology and efficiency to develop a modern, user-friendly design inspired by India. The first phase of the airport will contain one runway and one passenger terminal, with the capacity to handle traffic of up to 12 million passengers annually. Upon completion of all four development phases, the airport will be able to handle 70 million passengers annually.
