Precision therapies, which provide personalized healthcare solutions, are reshaping the medical landscape. However, their complex logistics requirements, from strict temperature control to real-time visibility of shipments, require customized solutions. Recognizing this, Pharma.Aero launched the Precision Therapy Logistics (PTL) project to explore the handling and distribution requirements of these therapeutics to build a logistics framework that will ensure safe and efficient distribution.
An innovative framework for advanced medicine logistics
The Logistics Framework, which identifies eight interconnected focus areas, demonstrates that integrating people, processes and technology is essential to delivering precision treatments. Certified and trained employees follow clear processes to ensure proper handling of products and resolution of issues along the supply chain. Dedicated teams and collaborative technologies ensure end-to-end coordination and proactively manage common challenges such as customs clearance and temperature control.
Collaboration between industries
The PTL project included surveys, interviews and workshops with key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical, logistics and airport sectors. Pharma.Aero has positioned itself uniquely to address these challenges by leveraging its extensive network of members and partners across all sectors of the life sciences supply chain. This collaborative approach ensures that the solutions proposed are practical, comprehensive and adaptable across industries, giving the industry a broader perspective on emerging challenges and trends.
Looking forward
The Pharma.Aero project lays a solid foundation for the next phase of the PTL Excellence Gateway project. The framework will be tested and further expanded by developing a shipping protocol, a standardized shipping label, and conducting pilot shipments with various stakeholders and industry partners.
