
NEO Air Charter operated 60 wide-body cargo aircraft in the first two months of 2024, circumventing e-commerce supply chain problems caused by the Red Sea attacks on shipping, which effectively blocked the Suez Canal route.
60 B747F and B777F charter flights were operated from Hong Kong to points in Europe, the United States and Central America. All flights carried full loads of e-commerce traffic between multiple shippers and consignees. In keeping with NEO’s strict trade-only policy, all charters are booked via major logistics providers.

“In case anyone is in any doubt, the Red Sea attacks are causing a lot of time-sensitive traffic to shift to air freight,” says Brian Davis, NEO’s general manager. “We haven’t seen demand like this since the early days of coronavirus.”

Despite the urgency of traffic, shippers and their agents remain very cost-conscious, shopping around for deals, Davis continues: “NEO’s immediate access to large-scale capacity has been a strong factor in winning business, but we have yet to prove that we were bidding the most Competitive.
2024 started with a bang for NEO, which was also handling record levels of traffic in other areas such as automotive and humanitarian aid. “We are hiring additional staff to help us meet demand,” Davis concludes. “This is shaping up to be a great one.”
