The Silk Road Free Economic Zone Company (SW AFEZCO) has entered into a landmark design and construction agreement with FF Construction, marking a milestone in the development of the Silk Road Shipping Village within the Free Economic Zone (AFEZ). The agreement includes the design, engineering and construction of three key facilities that will be an integral part of the Silk Road Cargo Village: an air traffic control tower, a business aviation terminal, and a fire station.
The air traffic control tower will ensure flawless air traffic management and safety, and includes advanced radar and communications systems along with sustainable and energy efficient facilities. The business aviation terminal will provide seamless services for private aviation, with dedicated customs areas, VIP lounges and direct access to the airport apron, setting a new standard for regional business aviation. The fire station will ensure rapid response to emergencies with state-of-the-art equipment and vehicles, incorporating sustainable features including water recycling systems to comply with environmental targets.
These facilities will be built in accordance with international standards for green and sustainable infrastructure. Technical guidance from ICAO will support progress towards green airport certification, while collaboration with local regulatory bodies will ensure maximum efficiency and scalability for the airport’s future growth.
“This agreement represents an important step in our journey to create a world-class logistics hub in Azerbaijan,” said Jawad Dabilah, General Manager of SW AFEZCO. “The partnership with FF Construction reflects our dedication to providing innovative, efficient and sustainable solutions in the aviation and logistics sectors.”
Ayaz Sultanov, Director of FF Construction LLC, added: “We are honored to collaborate with SW AFEZCO on this transformational project. Our extensive experience in implementing complex infrastructure projects ensures that these facilities set new standards of quality and sustainability, strengthening Azerbaijan’s logistics ecosystem.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026, enhancing regional connectivity and supporting sustainable economic growth.
