SkyCell, the purpose-driven technology company transforming the pharmaceutical supply chain, has launched a free carbon calculator, SkyMind DECARBONIZE™. The tool enables companies to calculate and track their CO2 footprint and identify key areas to reduce emissions. Based on a study by the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics, SkyMind DECARBONIZE sets a new standard for precisely monitoring emissions. Besides, SkyCell will also launch a paid service to help pharmaceutical companies and their suppliers achieve Scope 3 reduction targets through educational and advisory services. This will be enabled by SkyCell’s SkyMind learning system, which delivers insights and best practices from SkyCell’s 10-year journey to continuously reduce Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
With the implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) this year, companies large and small, including pharmaceutical companies, will need to report Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions) and demonstrate reduction plans. Any company with a presence in the EU will need to comply with the directive and failure to comply could result in companies facing legal penalties.
SkyCell’s Freemium CO₂ Calculator simplifies the reporting process, allowing companies to easily track emissions and optimize shipping methods to reduce their environmental impact. It enables companies to calculate CO2 impacts across all scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and identify potential reductions across fleet, buildings, packaging and investments.
Recognizing the diverse needs of supply chain companies, SkyCell will offer a two-tiered service. The freemium model caters to small businesses, while the paid service provides ongoing support for larger companies – enabling teams to implement CO2 reduction measures on their journey to net zero emissions. As part of the SkyMind platform, it can simulate the cost, risk and CO2 emissions of lanes, across all modes of transportation – trucking, ocean, air freight width and tracking improvements.
SkyCell recently launched SkyMind to enhance operational control and save costs by streamlining operations, increasing efficiency and reducing unnecessary expenses associated with processing and storing unit load devices (ULDs), as well as reducing CO2 emissions.
“Nico Ross and I founded SkyCell with people, planet and profits in mind,” said Richard Eitel, co-founder and CEO of SkyCell. “SkyCell is fortunate to have Niko, one of Switzerland’s sustainability leaders, as our CTO. Niko designed some More sustainable buildings, insulation and software to reduce CO2 emissions With this early start over 10 years ago, we started applying this to pharmaceutical logistics and the result: SkyCell containers. and SkyMind, now SkyMind DECARBONIZE, our free software to help pharmaceutical and logistics companies calculate and simulate their supply chains to make better decisions.
Nico Ros, Co-Founder and CTO of SkyCell: “Businesses are now moving from being sustainable as a nice-to-have to a must-have. You saw this in the construction industry 10 years ago where making the right decisions to improve sustainability was very complex. That’s why That’s why we created a software that everyone can use, based on the latest calculation methods from MIT. It helps companies meet upcoming regulatory requirements such as reporting and serves as a tool for making the right decisions, so that CO2 is not calculated at the end of the year, but is calculated at the end of the year. A daily basis for making relevant decisions Cost, risk and carbon dioxide.
SkyCell’s commitment to sustainability is further highlighted in its latest Sustainability Report, which details ongoing efforts and results across its value chain. The company has been awarded an EcoVadis Platinum medal and is on track to achieve net zero by 2040 across its entire supply chain.
