Frankfurt-based commercial charter specialist NEO has completed a program of twenty air cargo charter aircraft from Spain and Portugal to the UK, carrying urgent automotive components.
Flights from Spain and Portugal to Birmingham and Liverpool in the UK were operated using Metro, Saab 340, ATR42 and ATR72 freighters with capacities ranging from 2.1 to 9.2 tonnes. The loads transported on pallets consist of 1 to 25 parcels per trip, each parcel measuring 120 cm x 80 cm x 120 cm, and weighing 360 kg.

All shipments were extremely urgent and were necessary to maintain the automobile production lines. Flights are usually booked within a few hours, with departure and arrival always required the same day.

“This has been a challenging period as ongoing temporary supply issues resulted in sporadic and unexpected component needs,” says Ismail Duran, Time Critical Sales Manager at NEO. “The only common denominator was the extremely urgent need for shipments to avoid shutting down production lines.”
“Finding suitable aircraft available nearby and getting them up and running at such short notice, while also minimizing costs for the customer, created some challenges – but nothing we couldn’t solve. Small freighters provided the solution. Everything went according to plan, The end customer is able to maintain production at all times with minimal interruption and at a reasonable cost.
