Striking workers rejected Boeing’s latest offer on Monday after the manufacturer proposed a 35 percent pay increase over four years.
64% of members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers rejected the new deal from Boeing and continued the strike that began on September 13.
“After 10 years of sacrifices, we still have ground to make up, and we hope to do so by resuming negotiations immediately,” IAM announced in a statement. “This is democracy in the workplace – and also clear evidence that there are consequences when a company mistreats its employees year after year.”
It was the second time workers formally rejected a Boeing deal, with the union previously stating it was seeking a 40 percent pay increase over four years.
